Abstract

Manual management of fixed assets and laboratory supplies remains an operational limitation in many quality control laboratories, particularly when records are fragmented, updated inconsistently, or dependent on paper-based forms and spreadsheets. This situation may compromise resource traceability, inventory reliability, timely reporting, and administrative decision-making. This study aimed to design and implement a web-based system to strengthen the organization, control, and monitoring of fixed assets and supplies in a quality control laboratory. An applied descriptive study was conducted, supported by documentary review, interview, questionnaire, and functional requirements analysis. The development process included the identification of operational workflows, information needs, vulnerabilities associated with manual control, system architecture design, database modelling, and implementation of modules for asset and supply registration, stock updating, movement control, resource consultation, and report generation. The results enabled the structuring of an information system intended to centralize data, reduce dependence on manual records, improve information availability, and support administrative planning within the laboratory. The proposed system represents an adaptable tool for institutional contexts that require stronger resource traceability, operational efficiency, and information-based management. The study concludes that the digitalization of asset and supply control can contribute to improving administrative management quality in quality control laboratories, provided that implementation is accompanied by user training, technical maintenance, and continuous adaptation to real workflow requirements.
